If you are a first time cruiser you are bound to have questions. We all did. Here are some tips to help you make some important decisions for you first cruise.
Cruise lines: how do you choose? The best way to do that is based on who is going. For a family I recommend Royal Caribbean, hands down they are the cruise line that will have something for all ages. Are you traveling in a group? Where does everyone want to go? Itinerary is probably most important. Do some research and decide where you want to go based on what time of year you are planning to travel. If you are going as couple you should probably choose based on your age and what the cruise line has to offer as far as activities. Do you want a nice spa with a thermal suite? Do you want a cruise that has cooking or wine classes? Do you like to go dancing at night? These are all things to research for you trip. Staterooms: how do you choose a stateroom? Now I know everyone says they are not going to spend a lot of time in their room so who cares what kind they get? I care! I am sorry but for me I am not going to enjoy cruising in a closet. No windows, no balcony, really? I don’t think so. You are on the ocean and you want to see it. And you don’t want to see it necessarily squished up against strangers. If you are going to cruise you should feel, hear and smell the ocean breeze. It is part of the experience. For me nothing less than a balcony will do. If you are traveling with kids, spring for the closet across the way to put them in. It will do wonders for your relationship. Trust me.

It’s not difficult to get sick while traveling. Our bodies are exposed to new germs and different climates. In addition, a busy itinerary can zap energy levels and make us more susceptible to getting sick. Here are a few tips to help you stay healthy while traveling.
Don’t rush
Don’t accelerate your itinerary just to squeeze in more sights and attractions. There may be a lot to see, but if you are rushing from one thing to the next, you will quickly become exhausted and you won’t get much out of the experience. Another reason to avoid a jam packed itinerary: when you are tired and worn out, it’s easier to get sick. Know your limits and understand that your health should be your number one priority.
Drink lots of fluids
Feeling sick? You may just be dehydrated. Fatigue and headache are two common signs of dehydration, a common problem for travelers. While spending time out in the sun and visiting attractions it’s not always easy to stay hydrated, but it’s important for your travel health. Keep a water bottle with you and refill it often. If you are traveling in a place where you cannot drink the tap water, consider buying chlorine tablets or using iodine drops to treat the water.

A Carnival Cruise is one of the best vacations you can take. Whether this is your first cruise or your tenth use these tips to make you Carnival Cruise more enjoyable. These tips are gathered from my personal experience and that of other passengers.
1. Don’t pack all of your items into one bag. Split your clothing up into a couple of bags. This way if one of the bags is lost you will still have clothing until the other bag is found.
2. Pack essentials (medicine, passports, and cruise documents) in your carry-on. You will have your carry-on with you until you get your room reducing the likely hood of these items getting lost.
3. Bring Ziploc bags with you. These are ideal for small items in that you don’t want to get wet. On the flip side they are also great for placing your wet bathing suit in after a shore excursion.
4. Bring your own aspirin, small toiletries and sunscreen. Although you can get these items onboard it is usually cheaper to purchase these items before the cruise.
5. Notify your bank or credit card company ahead of time telling them where you will be traveling. A quick call will alert them that your card will be used outside of the United States.
6. You will get a sign and sail card as soon as you arrive at the cruise terminal. This will be used for all purchases onboard and for leaving and returning to the ship while in port. Once onboard go to the casino and they will give you a lanyard and punch your card to attach the lanyard. This is a great way to make sure you don’t lose your card.
7. Take a notebook with you. This way you can document your cruise each day. With all of the activities you will be doing it is easy to forget just what you did.
8. Check your dining room seating arrangement as soon as possible the first day. If you find it is not to your liking contact the Matrade and he should be able to change your seating.
9. If you have a balcony room and have friends staying in the next door cabin ask the room steward to open the balcony divider. You can also do this yourself with a small set of pliers (Leatherman).

It’s funny how so many people think it is important to take medical insurance at home, if they do not even know, doctors and hospitals, but then they embark on a journey abroad, and it is not broadcast. How can you leave the country without health insurance?
Contrary to popular belief, many plans do not apply to you outside the U.S..
